The Liebherr family business was started during the year 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The business first gained fame from its mobile tower crane which was well-known for its affordability and ease of assembly. It was upon this creation that the foundation of the company flourished under. Nowadays, Liebherr has grown to become one of the leading manufacturers in the world of construction machines. The business has also gained the reputation of being the accredited supplier of user-oriented technically innovative products and services in a range of fields. The company has currently become a "Group" working in each and every continent with over 35,000 employees and over 130 companies all around the globe.



The Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units in order to ensure a manageable operating size. These individual units operate independently. This particular set up enables the company the ability to stay in tune with global competition and be flexible to market signals. Furthermore, having so many individual company units also keeps customer service operating at an optimum level and ensures customer proximity.



Liebherr has instituted the divisional control companies to be able to handle the management operations of sales and production for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group presently encompasses 10 various product divisions.



Liebherr Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is situated within Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. At present, the family business is being managed by Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr and her brother Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr in the 2nd generation. Ever since 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by third generation family members such as: Stefanie Wohlfarth, Patricia Ruf, Jan Liebherr and Sophie Albrecht. These members of the family have been working together to help set up the course of the family business in the future. They are staying on top of large-scale industrial projects and residential buildings all over the globe.



Hans Liebherr started to build his business during 1949, in a small town called Kirchdorf in southern Germany. Kirchdorf, now supports amongst Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They are able to average an annual output of roughly 2800 wheeled excavators and employ over 1400 individuals in that specific workforce. The company has enjoyed diversity and immense growth since it initially opened its doors. The Liebherr Group continues to remain devoted to implementing and engineering innovative designs.
