Boom Lift Tips

An aerial boom is a fantastic device to help staff reach high places from the comfort of a metal deck. These equipment are available in various sizes and styles, that depends on the model. These types of lifts could run on gasoline or diesel engines and also from electrical batteries. Boom lifts are specifically able to lift occupants as high as 150 feet. In order to safely use these lifts, the operator will be required to wear approved harnesses which are attached to the lifting platform.

How High Do I Need to Go?

Before selecting a lift, it is wise to assess the job you would be doing. If able, take a measurement of the height form the ground to the work location. Before starting, scout out the place that the lift will be moving as uneven terrain would utilize another boom lift as opposed to a work area on concrete or asphalt. The job location is also really appointment. Lifts which will be traveling a lot would provide better service if they are diesel or gas powered. The battery powered models should be recharged more often because they will run down fast after great distances are traveled, despite the differences in terrain.

Before beginning a task, make certain you are familiar with operating the machine. Also, complete a daily check by inspecting all the components and perform a visual check around the machinery. Take note of the tires and ensure that they are well inflated to the right pressure. Visually check under the lift to be sure that noting is caught on the undercarriage. Safety inspections could be the difference between keeping an operator and people around them safe.
